Like Mohamed Noor in Minneapolis, Jiyayi Suleyman’s presence on the Nashville police force appears to be a manifestation of the general anxiety to avoid charges of “Islamophobia”: Nashville officials were so anxious to have a Kurdish Muslim police officer that they put Suleyman on the force and kept him there even after he was caught with the gang, when similar activity would have gotten a non-Muslim officer fired.
